  • Some Aspire/Festiva noob questions

don't know if this the correct place to ask but feel free to move if necessary.....

    __________________________________________________ __________________________________________________ __________________________________________________ ______

Will the B3 complete power steering from the Aspire work on an Aspire with the BP engine?

What is the difference between ABS and Non-ABS Aspire Brakes? will ABS variant still work for the break swap?
Will the Aspire Steering wheel fit the Festiva with or without modification? what is the safest way to remove the wheel without airbag in your face?

Will the Aspire A/C compressor and hoses work with the rest of the Festiva A/C system? What is needed to get the Festiva A/C system working with the Aspire compressor?

Will ask more questions as I can think of them.....

      Ac aspire bp ? Yes
abs brakes for swap . Yes just remove sensors .
steering wheel fit, should but trim won't . Air bag , remove battery completely then unbolt bag .
Some of the late 93 Festy ac lines would work but it's best just to use a complete system from said car .
Good luck with the bp swap its a real pain .

As far as removing the steering wheel without the airbag blowing up on you, it is recommended to disconnect the battery and wait 5 to 10 minutes before removing the airbag

Yes power steering will work . You will have to bend the lines and tweak things alittle but yes it will work . And ac us aspire ac in aspire and festiva in a festiva . Use original system from said car . As for listing every part , you should think about this swap alittle more if your not sure of the parts needed.
New build on the way .

As far as the steering wheel, I assume you want to retain the horn. There are two connectors under the steering wheel airbag, one for the airbag and one for the horn. The Festiva uses a simple spade connector for the horn, while the Aspire uses a more involved plug-in connector. I think you can just replace the connector on the Aspire steering wheel with a spade, to match the Festy one.

Wiper switch: A couple of years ago I noticed that another Ford car from the 90s, IIRC a Contour, used the same style wiper switch as the Aspire. But instead of single-speed delay, it had variable-speed delay. The wiring was not like on the Festiva tho, with all the connections made right at the wiper module; you had to go further down into the steering column to get at the connector. Presumably the Aspire is the same. I wish I had gotten it at the time, and am now on the lookout for one. IDK if all trim levels got the variable-speed delay. Contours came out in '95, so I'm pretty sure that was the model. Mercury Mystique is the same car BTW. Wouldn't hurt to look at other Ford models, starting with ~1994.

ok cool! I have all Aspire pulleys in my Festiva..... how would I get an Aspire A/C compressor with the Aspire Pulley to work or how would I put an Aspire Pulley on a Festiva A/C compressor?

The horn on my Festiva and parts Aspire doesn't work anyways.... I could get it to work if I wanted to but I just live without it..... as far as the wiper/turn signal switch, it's not going to be installed on my Festiva, it is going on The Aspire SE.... besides the contour from pictures I've seen, it uses a totally different wiper switch.....
