  • Motor swap virgin. Please help

I want to put a different motor in my 89. I don't know what to look for I was hoping to do it the easiest way possible. Because I'm not the most mechanically inclined person. I'd like to have a little more giddy up but I don't have a lot of money to spare. Any help will be greatly appreciated

I did a simple B6 swap from a Mazda 323. I have an extra twin carb setup for sale.

Your issue will be the uber stupid stock carb. If you first delete that in favor of a normal traditional Escort carb things get vastly simpler.

You could grab any engine and if you start with a normal carb you can just jet and tune it to match. But with the stock POS you're kinda neutered.

Your next issue is the intake manifold. If you want 100% drop-in, then the plain old 1st gen B6 is probably your only option that will bolt to your stock manifold, and that's not even ideal because it won't really flow quite enough for the B6.

            TL DR version
            1. Convert to a normal Escort carb before you do anything, and then see if you even want more power than that.
            2. If you still want to swap you will probably want a B6 and port the stock manifold to flow enough.
Any difference that makes no difference is no difference.

So I just need to put an escort carb on my current engine what years do I need to look for and do they bolt right up?

                They don't bolt up, no.

Rocketman makes adapters to bolt them on. I would PM him and see what he says. I can't recall exactly which year they come from. But he will probably know as he make the adapters.

                This guy.
