  • USPS VS UPS

What is more covenant for you? I find that it takes way too long for ups to ship.... Also if it doesn't fit in a flat rate box it normally is cheaper to ship via ups for me.....

    Thoughts?

USPS for me (regardless of the fact that I'm USPS retired) because of several factors. My carrier is the same one always(Thurs. sub) and I have spoken to her and agreed for her to leave parcels too big for the box in one of my vehicles, or dropped over the locked gate. I know about when to expect her whereas UPS delivery times can be 1130 to 2000 and they will often not leave it if no one is present. If I do have to go pick up something, UPS is not nearly as close as the PO. I like blue better than brown.

I have shipped hundreds of packages out usps this past year and its been good and usually fast delivery.Sent a part from Mi to Cali that took 48 hrs in a flat rate priority box.The print shop nexts store does ups and have gotten some crazy price quotes so i dont bother with them much. They wanted 130 to send a fender to the next state.22 at usps.Shipping costs always bite but usps gives a fair value for the service.

USPS for the win, I sent a Festiva 4 speed to a gentleman in Mesa AZ the cost was $40 with tracking etc.

No, I took a cardboard box, cut it, folded it to fit the trans, wrapped the box with Duct tape, iirc the weight limit for USPS is 70 pounds, the 4 speed was something like 55

                USPS preferred.

                Ratings for me:
                USPS 10
                FedEx Ground 4
                UPS 3
FedEx Home Delivery 1 to 0

You are forgetting about Greyhound for the large stuff. I have shipped doors, bumpers etc. Use busfreighter.com and the cost is cheaper for the big stuff ..within their package size and weight stipulations.
I use usps mostly as I use the click and ship at home to get the labels and the drop box is 24hrs. Anything international that is not in a flat rate box goes UPS. Also, I have found that depending on package size, UPS can be cheaper and more convenient to me at least as the depot is just a couple miles down the road and never busy..UPS stores I do not care for unless it is just a drop off. FEDEX is a pain unless you or the customer has a commercial account that can generate a label then it is just a drop off deal ..not too bad at all.

^^^^ thanks for the heads up on shipping busfrieghter.com, i buy tire and wheel combs and it's a pain getting them home, the last time i checked with Greyhound they wanted $200 to ship 4 tires mounted on mag wheels from Indy. i will see what they can do for us.
