    Something else to consider if towed backwards in gear is that the oil pump ran backwards. That would overheat the engine due to friction. Does the engine block show any hot spots?

      Hmmm .... like those test engines they run without oil to see how long they can stay together!
      So possibly, everything between the front bumper .... and the back bumper might be trash.
      I gave him a low offer 3 days ago, and haven't heard back.

          Thanks for the great input. Certainly not looking good at this point for the engine/trans.
          Just salvaging tires and random parts would be worth the price, (eventually) but I don't really have the need right now.
          Still undecided ... what to do, what to do .....
