Wheel hop is a trannies worst nightmare. The next worse thing is no fluid.
I completely agree, and thats why i cant believe mine still works. Stock transmission with 278k miles, i used to hop the wheels all the time racing people, especially at the track. I didnt know any better back then. Its been leaking fluid bad for 5 years or so, used to have to add fluid every month, now its every 2 weeks, ran it right out 3 times and 2 of those times i completely seized it, it spends more time half empty than all the way full. I quite often add over a litre... and i have taught 7 people to drive standard in it, all of whom ground gears. I tow with it... And it still shifts perfect in every gear after all that. I have another one thats going in this fall because i dont trust this one anymore, but its amazing what some transmissions will take and what others wont.
We all know the weak spots though. 4th, 5th gear, the plate that holds the gear sets. I'm just curious to know if this is a bp exclusive issue, or if b6t cars do it too.

Well since the transmissions are exactly the same yeah it happens to both. It's more common with a bp though.
On street tires I shift into 4th at 94mph at 7000. I think fourth is good till about 120ish but I have never seen a speedometer the top of 4th so I wouldn't know. Fastivab6t used to do top speed runs and I think has was tapped about 143pmh in 5th.
