I will keep my eyes open in the for sale section for a header, thanks. Will advancing the timing help with the stock manifold or only if I change it?
Advancing the timing should still help.

Timing question- So after putting everything back together on my car on the weekend i seem to have a bit less power. I might have the ignition timing a bit off as i had the distributor out. I borrowed a timing light and hope to set it tonight or tomorrow. Stock is 10 degrees btdc so how far would you advance it to start? Is there a certain degree that works well on a stock motor? Or what would be too far? Thanks.

ryan, what a coincidence! I am going to be driving south with my three boys next summer. None of us have witnessed a total solar eclipse. It will be the trip of a lifetime.

Ok! Where are you going to and when is the eclipse?

So I have updated my trailer build thread with whats happened and some photos.
Members Builds (questions about repair or how to do something belong in the proper forum)

Basically I picked a poor method of building the trailer in hopes it would be lighter and it will not be completed in time to do my trip as planned in summer 2017. That is very disappointing but I have to just move on and come up with plan B.

Plan B version 1 was to park the festiva at work for this winter, do all the work on it there as planned while daily driving my civic. Then in the spring finish up the trailer and take a long weekend test trip. Then drop the kids off at my parents and go to madness 2017 with our rig and my wife. However a round trip to madness is over 8000km (about 5000 miles), I would have to take a week and a half off work and drive long hours with no stops there and back without stopping to see anything along the way. I*don't*think my wife would enjoy that and while I would love to be at madness with this thing I*don't*think I would enjoy a drive like that so much either. Second point against is the extra wear and*tear*on the tires, I*don't*want my tires to be worn down more than*necessary*for the cross*Canada*trip.

So plan B version 2 is the same work but instead of going to madness I would take one week off work late summer 2017 and do a road trip at a*leisurely*pace through the mountains. Take a route we wont be going on during our cross Canada trip, give the car a good workout on some big hills, see how it will be with the kids and just enjoy ourselves. Then in the winter fix whatever problems or flaws came up and maybe do some bodywork on the festiva. Then mid June 2018 leave on our cross Canada trip.

8/21/17 is the eclipse! And it's right in my back yard! Ok so 30 mins south of me is the best place to see it but I already have the day off work the next one is 2020 I believe and it intercepts the path of the 2017 one in the same spot, carbondale illinois I smell a festiva meet / solar eclipse part!

Second blog post! We are 800km into the trip on day 2 now, but we left a day and a half late and everything is taking way longer than planned...
Friday was my last day of work, I worked late that evening on the car to finish a few things and then came home. Julies family came out to...

From Burns Lake we drove out to where I grew up in Houston-a farm near the base of China Nose mountain. I lived there until I was 13. The a...

We spent about 6 days in the Houston/Smithers area where Julie and I grew up and visited people. Getting ready to leave for terrace now.
