Why isn't your 'Stang like that?

Surely you wouldn't want to shove your foot all the way to the floor just to clutch...

    IT MAKES YOU SLOWER!!!

    ~ Thought provoking?

lol because my mustang is normal. Even my Suzuki swift isn't like how the festiva is. To me something is wrong either needs to be adjusted or something

If you cant easily move the clutch fork approx 3/16" by hand, it's too tight, and conversely if you can move it more than that, it's too loose.

welcomsignYou need to check the fuek tank for water separation if it was sitting a long time.
Use the search engine to find everything you want to work on. It will save you a lot of trial and error. Take more pics after you buff it up. Pics also help you when you enter your car for Festiva of the month.

There is a loose Connector up near your Ignition Coil that you can run a wire to ground (While the key is on) and it will turn the fuel pump on constantly so you can pump out the old fuel without having to drop the tank. I would jack the car up (so you can fit a gas can under the car) and pull the hose off of the bottom of the Fuel filter and pump the old gas out into a gas can and then replace the fuel filter while you are at it before you get around to driving it anywhere. Fuel Filters are only a couple of dollars on RockAuto.com, There is a section on the website when you go to check out that says "How did you hear about us" put in this code 4621673325842227 to get 5% off of your order.

Great find. That's about how my clutch works, also. When I drive I just barely push in the clutch to shift.

                    I am super jealous.

Ok guys so last night I had a half hour to mess with the car a little bit. I tightened the nut I am pointing to. Got in the car fired it up and took off. Man o man did it make the clutch slip very bad. I didn't go very far at all. I quickly turned around and got back home. I backed the nut out and got things back to normal again. I wasn't sure how far to back the nut out. I think today I will back the nut out a few more turns in hopes to change where the clutch engagement is. Or just get use to how the pedal is way up at the top.

After work I am going to take a vacuum cleaner to this car. It needs a good 8hrs of love. The weekend can't get here fast enough because i'm going to make this car shine soon as I get done with it...lol

This morning my brother got a giant trash bag and started tossing crap out including the nasty seat covers they had in the car. This thing needs a interior detail bad!

Why was it sitting for so long if there aren't any mechanical problems with it?

Not sure they just didn't drive it much? An older woman was the owner she no longer lives at the house and moved in with the daughter and son in law. If we hadn't asked, the car would still be sitting there collecting dust and tires going flat again.

sounds like if it's engaging at the top of the pedal, the clutch is worn. especially if adjusting the cable just causes it to slip like crazy.

I couldn't imagine a Festiva clutch being worn out before 100k miles, unless it spent its entire time with someone who could never drive stick properly.

Could also be a bad pressure plate.

that is what I am thinking but then you have the guys on here that also have a similar pedal as mine which contradicts having a worn clutch disk. Guess i'm going to cross my fingers and hope I can put some miles on the car before having to do a new clutch replacement. which looks to be a nightmare

Clutch jobs aren't too bad. You can have it done in a day easily if you have all the proper tools
