One of the things I look for when planning road trips is the highest elevation we can reach in the Festiva without leaving pavement. So far the highest we've been is at Tioga Pass coming out of Yosemite at 3030m/9943 ft. Previous to that it was Powder River Pass close to the South DakotaWyoming border.
We'll be up to 3337m/10947ft next month when we drive the Beartooth Highway in Montana.
At the top of the bucket list is Mount Evans Road in Colorado at 4342m/14240ft, the highest paved road in North America.
We've already done the highest paved highway in Canada. That's the Highwood Pass with an elevation of 2236m/7238ft. The summit is only 37km/22 miles south of Wedge Pond, the venue for Westiva.
There's lots of others we'll be adding to the list including Pike's Peak 4303m/14115ft.
