  • Seat swap that wont break the bank

My front seats in the 93 Festiva are pretty well shot, and I'm tired of the seat springs trying to sodomize me whilst driving it. Anyone know of anything that has some seats that will drop right in or am I just going to have to pull it into the shop and have an 80's style montage that involves all sorts of power tools and winds up with me having a couple captains chairs out of an old Chevyvan and ends up being a complete disaster in proper BBC Top Gear fashion? (the good Top Gear with Clarkson, Hammond, and May)

Escort GT tops are nearly bolt in, and then swap the bottom cushion on to the festy frame.

    currently: 2 88Ls (Scrappy and Jersey), 88LX, 90L(Pepe), 91L, 91GL (Skippy) 93 GL Sport (the Mighty Favakk), 94 (Bruce) & 95 Aspire SEs, 97 Aspire (The Joker),
94 Justy 4WD, 87 Fiero GT, plus 2 parts cars. That's my fleet.

Any particular year escort that works better than others?

More comfortable is the Aspire seat swap, detailed here. Any late 80/early 90s Mazda seat works too. Escort seats are early 90s. I recommend Aspire or Protege as best. All seat swaps are done the same way.

If you are swapping seat cushions onto Festy frames AND you have any extra Festy seat springs, I would recommend installing a 4th spring. The Festy seat frame already has an empty bracket for it. I did this when I swapped in 93 Escort seats and it makes the front of the seats sit up a bit higher, which sort of tilts you back a little more. I have never ridden in swapped seats without this mod, but I find them very comfortable as they are now. If you can find a 93 Escort wagon with grey interior(get the dome light and rear wiper motor, too), the pattern of the material is very similar to 92L stock seats, so much that only an experienced Festiva eye will notice any difference
