    Thoughts on the Viper 4816v remote start? thinking of installing it on my Festiva... I just want remote start for winter and don't care about locking/unlocking doors since my lock rods are broken in my car

    Hi Old Yellow,
    I have to say that DEI(Viper) makes a nice product. The thing to give you a heads up on would be that the installation is just as, if not more important than the product itself. If you were looking to install this yourself, take the time required to solder every connection. Test and verify every single wire function on the car before making the connection. If this is going on a stick shift car verify that all the door pins(what turns on the dome light) are clean and fully functional.

    If you are looking to have this installed by a shop, ask if they solder 100% of their connections. If they do not, no matter what excuse they propose, do no have them work on your car.

    This can be done by an average DIY person. You just have to take your time and make certain that you know exactly what you are trying to accomplish.
