  • advancedynamix suspension... did it ruin my car ??

so I bought a reasonable cared for festiva last year, my initially impressions of the car was that it was a 'peppy' little car with a 'lively suspension' that was fun to drive with a lot of direct driver involvement
but I didn't like the 55mph wobble that seems to be so common and also there was a bit more body roll than I was comfortable with I.e. going around a moderate curve at less than 'push' speeds resulting in a grimace of terror followed by a big grin, that i'd 'survived' again
    in search of improvements
    the car got
    festiva store's rack/ bushings/ tach
    advancedynamix coil overs
new brakes from master cylinder back to rear cylinder kit
bearings / tune up stuff / sensors/ oxemiter and so on's
    the results....
the wobble is gone! the suspension is so good that the before adequate motor seems slow and underpowered , its a real momentum car now where before I was afraid to maintain speed, now i'm thinking I need to go to a track to see where the limit of my tires are....
I have a B6 NA capri, for later if the motor gave up the ghost ,, but now,, now i'm thinking motor and brakes .... maybe sooner than later
I hope to hold out for shadetrees B6t race car that he is building for me and keep this as a fun daily with great mpg
but I don't know,, now the suspension might be too good....

No, it just ruined your expectations of a daily driver

But since you're mulling it over, do brakes first.
    Trees aren't kind to me...

I have the Capri motor in mine. You'll love it. It really makes the suspension come to life. Mine has coilovers also.

It has the Capri engine wiring harness and ECU. Shadetree installed it for me. B6D non turbo. Upper 30's to low 40's mpg if I stay out of it. (Doesn't happen very often).

This thread makes me smile. Glad to hear you are enjoying all the parts and that they are working really well.

The Festiva Store was able to get Advancedynamix to make 5 complete sets. They sold immediately. If enough people beg Charlie, he might make time to make a few more sets.

I built mine using his thread. I recently upgraded the rears to the MK 1 VW struts, they made a world of difference.

Hmm Vince that might be a good thing to add to the store just learn how Charlie does it and make the coil sets its time consuming idk if you have the time to but I'm sure people would buy it at a price with some good profit in there

Something similar happened to Chris (Walth). But in his case it ruined the driver. After we did the suspension on his car we were driving together, I pushed it a little, he pushed it not so much... I edged him on to push it harder... "make good use of that suspension!", right?
The other day when I rode with him over the mountain I was holding on to the seat and he was like "it'll hold!" Now he wants more power...

Sometimes I wonder if Ford sold them with bad suspension and horrible tires so that people wouldn't drive them like go carts. 5 years into this and I can't drive my Festiva without wondering why they didn't come like this. Can you imagine how popular this car would have been with a sport tuned chassis and a high revving 110hp engine?

Since mine now has the b6d, Aspire swap, Charlies suspension, it's the car it SHOULD have been when I bought it new.

They'd be selling for more than ~$500, that's for sure!
