  • So, any year then??

I want to do the aspire brake swap and read that I should buy a complete aspire to do the swap. Keeps it simple. My question is this; does matter what year aspire donor I purchase??

    Thanks everyone

No, just keep in mind that the desired swap is from an automatic aspire.

Thanks for that detail FestYboy! I would not have known that! What's the reason for wanting the automatic instead?

Autos have thicker rotors and the calipers are wider to match.

you can go with an MT aspire. the only diff is the rotor thickness and the outer pad holder. the MT rotor is 18mm thick. the AT rotor is 22mm thick. saven a little rotational weight with the MT disc but gain a little more heat sink with the AT disc. you won't be able to install an MT caliper onto an AT (22mm) disc.
new MT rotors seem to be harder to find than AT ones. you can convert your MT calipers to accept AT rotors if you find and install an outer pad holder from a 90s escort/tracer/323 onto a MT caliper. outer pad holders are stamped with 18V or 22V. that is the max rotor width (in mm) they can accept. here's an example:
