  • Which Achilles Tires would you recommend?

I've heard very good things about these tires.

I'll be buying them in 13" 175-60-13 size.

I am torn between the Achilles 122, and Achilles Platinum tires.

    Your opinions?
1991 Ford Festiva BP (Full Aspire/Rio Swap) (337k Miles) (Around 95k Engine)
2002 Chevy Cavalier LS Sport 2.2L DOHC Ecotec (Threw a Rod)
    1998 Chevy Monte Carlo LS 3.1 V6 (225k miles) Best MPG = 28

Had the 122s, felt sloppy compared to the 155/70 winter tires I had in right before. I have to admit that it was most likely due to the rim width that allowed more roll over than the 155s so it wasn't a fair comparison. For what they were though, they wore well and the grip was OK for how I abused them. I've had several sets of Achilles and for the price, haven't been disappointed.

    currently: 2 88Ls (Scrappy and Jersey), 88LX, 90L(Pepe), 91L, 91GL (Skippy) 93 GL Sport (the Mighty Favakk), 94 (Bruce) & 95 Aspire SEs, 97 Aspire (The Joker),
94 Justy 4WD, 87 Fiero GT, plus 2 parts cars. That's my fleet.

        Lol

I think Ben (Thisvelologist) has that size 122 on a set of 13x6 wheels and he loves them.

Most of the guys are running the ATK-R economist. But it sounds like they're all pretty good.

I'm about to be throwing the 122's in 205/60-16 on my 99 Legacy. We'll see how they do. They were $240 shipped.

I mentioned the Platinums because they are one of the two that Charlie recommended to me, along with the Economists. I happen to have the Economists.

I'm pleased for winter use. I'm in the market for aluminum 4x100. Soon.

Boo! Ordered tires from onlinetires.com. got this email.

Unfortunately the 185/60-14 ACHILLES PLATINUM 82H tires you ordered are unavailable. We attempted to place an order with the manufacturer and they informed us they are on a national backorder.

We may have other brands/models available. WE ARE OUT OF STOCK ON ALL ACHILLES & FEDERAL UNTIL MID-LATE APRIL.

                              Ouch!!!

Btw, if you can find them, 185/55r14 will be a more correct height. The 60s are a little too tall for the speedo.
