I pulled lots of stuff from an 89 Festiva today. Maybe I'll go back for those cables as they were all there... Anyone need anything?

I tried getting the switch out because it did have the key. I got everything off around it without breaking anything but unless I pull the steering shaft together with it, I couldn;t see a way to get just the switch. Any ideas?

A sharp cold chisel and hammer to get the screw to stare rotating. Or if you have a hacksaw blade, you could notch the head and use a flat tipped screw driver to remove.

I found you can use a pair of needle nose pliers to get the ignition switch off...did that on my 88 lx and an 89. 323 in the wrecking yard

I did the notching of one of the screws, with a battery-powered Dremel and diamond cutoff wheel. Once I got that screw out, I could wiggle the mechanism enough to get the other one looser, so I could get at with a needle nose pliers. I've tried a hacksaw blade, but it's a lot harder to get in there compared to a Dremel cutoff wheel.

I found an Escort wagon but the dome light connector does not appear to be plug and play when I compared it to the 89 Festiva in the same yard. I'm going to look at my 93 Festy to se if the plug changed. Also, what's the Escort wagon wiper gear mod and what do I need to grab for that?

The Escort dome light that I put in was not Plug and Play but has only 2 wires to splice into the new plug.

I'm sorry but I gotta keep this one. I'm going to start looking for them as there are a lot of pick a parts in Atlanta and you'll get dibs next time.

So I'm pulling the power mirrors, I assume that I also need the harness as well and it's not already one just in my non power window car? Also, would it be worth it to pull the rear wiper system?

Nope, you should already have the harness. Festivas come pre wired for almost everything.

Don't forget to pull the switch though!

                          Thanks for the next dibs!

Sheesh, BIG haul today and yesterday... It didn't take long to turn into a Festy maniac! Gotta do a freelance video shoot now but full parts list later tonight hopefully. Thank you all for the suggestions and I pretty much grabbed everything mentioned. Tomorrow I will start installing the neat bits as I know my way around the car pretty well now.
