No it isn't as good as a store bolt bar but it has seen hundreds of miles pulling several cars. I would make some improvents if I were to build another one but that is because I use it so much. This one works great and is cheap. Use a safety chain and common sense. The gear puller I built something similiar years ago and use still I don't have a pic but it is very similiar to the puller but for the back bar I used a piece of slotted channel Iron and instead of a threaded rod I use a small hydraulic jack, just imagine that puller no threaded rod a jack right where the rod is.

    • Thanks to Rick for fixing my clutch cable! Now as I am getting closer to driving my festiva again I'm wondering where to get a new spring for the clutch pedal... any ideas? Anyone happen to have a good spring they would let me buy?

        • Anyone have suggestions for this guy struggling with a stubborn oil filter? Usually I just use my hand and if that doesnt work I use the rubber universal wrench or the big vice grip type of thing. the rubber wrench is too big for this filter and I not enough swing room for much else. I am thinking of getting the specific filter wrench for this engine but for short term any ideas?

              • I don't own a filter wrench and I get my subie filters quite tight (on purpose). I just use a blue paper towel (but a normal one might work). Don't fatigue your hand but keep constant pressure on it even if it moves super slow initially.

Didn't make it to autocross today. Looking towards October in Danville.

                • I second this but I use a hunk of sandpaper instead of a blue towel

                  • I bought a tool for my F-350 that is like a big pair of Channel Locks with teeth that bite down into the filter. I have never had an oil filter that was so hard to get off as the one on the F-350....

                        • This is my first oil change since my engine swap in June. Was put on by Rob. But this happens even when I tighten it by hand, its just hard to get out sometimes.
                          Lol @ that pic tho

                            • Jab a screwdriver through it and twist if you have to. If I can't get them by hand I like the slip-joint pliers style filter wrench.

Make sure when you put the new filter on you lube the gasket well.

Please do not jab screwdrivers through oil filters!!!! I was taught that trick in 1980 something,it works great, until the time it doesn't then you have a car with a stuck oil filter with a screwdriver through,it that keeps tearing bigger holes in the filter. The car cannot even be started now. When you get channel locks in there [you can't get your hand in there, sharp edges everywhere] the filter just tears in 1/2 at the screwdriver holes. This really happened to me. If a filter is so stuck you can't get it with sandpaper or a filter wrench, take a big dull screwdriver and drive the thick base of the filter counter clockwise once it budgesit will twist off by hand.
