    sorry for the dumb question - i've been looking for an hour...

    where do I buy a 2 stage tstat for the festiva?

    Looked on rock auto and couldn't find it, thanks ahead of time

    I just got mine from rock auto.....and it was motorcraft too.....i've purchased a mazda one in the past at a mazda dealer....i think it was for a 323 and around 1989 or so......some correct me if I'm way off. peace.

          Be extremely careful not to crack the ear of the thermostat cover when you install.
          Check to see that the thermostat did not slide out of it's groove, before the bolts are tightened.

          I am running a single stage Mazda thermostat. The two stage thermostat is an unnecessary expense.
          Reduced flow = reduced overall cooling capacity.
          Great for winter, not as good for summer.

            Order one from autozone for a 92 mazda miata
            There cheap and 2 stage , they work well.
            Also as brave said be very careful .
            I used a drop of super glue to hold it in there so it can't fall out .don't forget to get all that old gasket off the head and housing that will also cause it to crank when tightening
            Personally I can't tell the difference between the single and dual stage one, a core back flush and removing the years of junk stuck to it will be the best thing you can do for heat.
