Dumb question? Is there supposed to be trim or anything covering the jack?

Title says it all, and I hope this isn't that dumb of a question. I've never seen one with any type of cover over the jack/beneath the hatch seal area. Is there supposed to be something there? I'm just curious.

no. but that just adds to the quirky charm and encourages you to keep the jack clean and waxed plus you wouldn't want to hide the shiny hold down T bolt either.
