  • Hello all, new member from FL

So a few years ago i was into merkurs, and with that i met some cool people. One of which had a very nasty festi, b6t swapped lots done to it. From what i remember it was on a stand alone and on race gas. It ripped so hard man.. few years down the road i finally got my own.. an 88 L carby 4 speed!! My plans are to obviously clean it up to a presentable appearance, b6t swap, and please dont shun me.. stance it.. kinda..

Im in the process of reserching the swap now. My only concern is the car has ac that works and it works really good.. i dont want to lose that.. and then theres the trans. Definitely ditching the 4 speed. Pointers to what cars/year model to get the trans from. Also im not planning on really pushing this thing past maybe 200 hp, was wondering what about the xr2 trans? I mean its already attached to the engine. Anyways, im going to run spec 1 spt 7 rims which only come in a 15x8 size with a +20 offset that ive seen. Anyone run wheels with similar spes ? I Probably am safe in assuming ill need some sort of flares..
    Thanks for letting me join!

15x8 +20 will fit with some camber and 165 wide tires. But they will be pretty streched on a 8 wide wheel .
As for trans yes xr2 has the cable g series transmission. The g series is the strongest trans that bolts to the mazda b series engine. You will want the entire engine trans axels and wireing harness and ecu. With your car being carbed you will need to go efi with either a efi festiva tank and lines or add an inline pump to the carbed tank you have.
It's been done both ways and probably documented on here as well. Welcome to the forum and good luck with your swap.
There are some very knowledgeable people on this forum that can help you every step of the way.

Will it need a return to the tank?

Take your time to read through some of the stuff on the forum before you get going so you can get a plan together. Most of us would not recommend a 8" wide wheel if you plan on using it for any kind of aggressive driving. I Personally would try to not go over a 6.5" wide wheel. As far as "stance" check out the Advance Suspension thread for coilovers and check Skeeter's posts for some Rear Camber Plates as well as W4rky's posts for some upcoming front Camber Caster Strut Mounts. You can buy the rear Camber plates now on the FestivaStore.

Yeah i thought the wheels would be rather aggressive, I'd prefer like 6.5 to 7 but these wheels only come in an 8. Im still looking around but im pretty dead set on them.
I spent about 4 hours last night just reading stuff on this site. Lots of info for sure
