strong gas smell after driving

been noticing a very strong gas smell after I park my car from a 30 min drive. its an 88 carb bone stock for reference. never noticed it before. then someone at my job pointed out that they smelled gas 2 min after I got out and they walked by. where do I start with this one?

Put a piece of cardboard under the fuel tank and see if there are any drips.
Work your way up the left side to check for any pinholes in the hard fuel line.
