  • Anyone ever try a B5-DE swap out of an '00-'02 Rio?

    105hp... one for sale locally with 13x,xxx in it.

    Computer needed or not?

    1963 Fairlane - future NSS drag car
    1965 Mustang Coupe - A-code car, restoring for/with my son
    1973 F100 longbed - only 22k original miles, 360/auto, disk, PS/PB dealer in dash A/C
    1996 Sonoma X-cab - son's DD
    2002 Grand Prix - daughter's DD
    2003 Sport Trac - 180k, 130k on replaced motor with new timing chains - F/S soon.
    2005 Accord - wife's DD
    2008 Mountaineer - step daughter's DD
    2015 F150 SCrew - DD

    No one has attempted it as far as I know. It's a obd2 vehicle so you'd either have to grab the entire rio wiring harness and ecu, figure out how to run it on the festy harness and ecu, or use a aftermarket ecu and harness

      I forget how weird the intake manifold is on those.

        Best results will be had with ECU and as much of the harness as needed. It's a good engine choice if you don't mind some wiring work
        No car too fast !

          If it bolts in like the B6D it might be a good, newer option to it. The B6Ds will eventually run out.

            Should bolt in like a 6d. Just might have to worry about intake clearance.

              I haven't stuck our 2003 rio 1600 in Cleo yet, but it looks like it will fit on the stock centerline. I don't know how different the intake is from an 2000-2001.
              No car too fast !
