  • Escort or other BP alternators on festivas.

I did a search using escort and alternator as me key words and got a million threads but didn't find what I needed. I see some of you are running BPs with festiva alternators ,and some of you have run both escort and festiva alternators on the same build so it only makes sense that a BP alternator will bolt to the Festiva. I need an alternator, the JYs anywhere near me have thousands of Escorts and Mazdas but no festivas. What BP,Mazda or Escort alternators bolt to the festivas.I'll clip the pigtail on JY alternator just in case wiring mods are necessary.

    Thank You

30 + Vehicle projects right now.7 Festiva/Mazda 10 GM IDK how many others, hope that helps explain all the stupid questions/shortcuts/interchanges etc. trying to liquidate so I concentrate on the good ones. Goal finish 1 amonth using as much stuff as I already have accumulated.

You may want to look at the alternators on Rockauto. I've found that if it takes a V-BELT and the connectors are the same and the housing is same, then it will work. Things like the pulley may not switch over, but should bolt up and charge. If I recall what I bought correctly, I have one for a Protégé on my car right now.

Escort alternator is fine. It has a different plug and a 5.4V outlet for electric choke. Just swap the pulley over and grab 4-6inches of the escort plug and wire.

Thanks for the tip. I will make a little pigtail with an Escort connector the next time I visit the yard.
Just in case I ever need one.

Sorry I thought I got back and posted on this. I ended up using an alternator from a 1988 mazda b2200, It bolted up and plugged in like it was made for my 1989 festiva, only difference was had to use the mazda lower mounting bolt and nut.It would still be nice for other members if we all posted what we have used so other members have a bigger selection at the JY.

I too run a B2200 alternator. Autozone even accepted my fried Festy alternator as core--it was like $90 brand new iirc
