  • Maf Sensor

Hey yall ive got a 92 festiva and its EFI i was wondering if theres any maf sensor conversions or if the one off an escort will plug right up? Ive seen it before that it will but im wanting to change the maf so i can actually do some stuff with the car instead of doing a swap...if i have to do a swap im going to do an H22 swap from a honda ive already got a friend that can weld up the mounts and everything but i dont want to put that block in my festiva if theres another way i can go.

Unfortunately there is no other VAF's that work well with the stock engine/wiring. Many Mazda VAF's will plug up but will provide no better performance than the VAF that is designed for the Festiva's engine. To upgrade or change to anything else you'd have to run off of a custom electrical system like MegaSquirt or MS2.

Basically there isn't unless you want to run something like megasquirt but there are other ways to tune this car for a little more power. If you invest in a Wideband you can adjust the air/fuel mixture and timing to optimize the b3 for a little more power. If you really want to keep the B3 and try to get any power from it then the go to thing is to port and polish the head for better air flow and make some custom headers/exhaust. Also if you have a wideband then you could add a wet shot of Nitrous for a little extra bump when you need it.

From everything I have read and heard, the B3 does not respond to a turbo very well over time but I'm not going to try and talk you out of it if you decide to go that direction.
