IS the long block the same?

Only the manifold and carb different?

    Compression?

Have a good 88 motor with a bad carb.

Looking at a 91 with a blown motor.

Thinking mix and match my bottom end and the fuely top end.

Swap your intake, make a block off plate for your fuel pump ,swap distributors and drive it like you stole it.
30 + Vehicle projects right now.7 Festiva/Mazda 10 GM IDK how many others, hope that helps explain all the stupid questions/shortcuts/interchanges etc. trying to liquidate so I concentrate on the good ones. Goal finish 1 amonth using as much stuff as I already have accumulated.

The long block will be identical, and the head casting is identical. As long as both engines are complete, you can just swap over the external accessories and it will work perfect.
Just like Ricko said above, the EFI car will have the block off plate for the head, swap accessories, and you should be good to go.
