Today I go out to clean the garage. The neighbor stops by so we do a little work on the 91GL. Started out good and we got it running great. After a lap around my parking lot I notice the driver side rear brake line is leaking. ops: 5 auto parts stores later I have line ends and a flare tool to repair the line. I figure I might as well replace the whole line while I'm at it. As of right now we have the line just about out but I broke a fuel line somehow right where they go up through the engine cross member :cry: So now I have a Festiva sitting on four jack stands in the garage with no brakes and fuel dripping into a drain pan. That's what I get for trying to fix it today..??

Man Paul you have had your fair share of bad luck with Festiva's as have some others , must be that time of the year , Good luck fixing it !!
Can you just cut out the bad fuel line and tie in rubber hose , It is not high pressure pump is it , I mean did you go with a aftermarket pump for the swap ?

I ran into that problem with my old Festiva. I ended up replacing all tthe lines running to the back of the car! That sucked!

Yup last time I reaplaced brake lines, A brake line turned into ALL the brakelines

one of the best investments i made was a flaring block, some 3/16 brake line and couplings. i think one of my brake lines is more couplings than line! corrosion always seems to be at bends and around holdown brackets. at least the festy seems to knows when to bleed, usually at slower speeds and with no cars or peds too close in front. just enough for a good butt-pucker and a slow limp home in 1st or 2nd and flaps down(e-brake). it never fails that right after u fix the first hole the pressure finds a way out of the next weakest link within a day.

long gone but curious

my first festy got sold because of brake failure. and i, um, melted hub bearings. but id still like to know what went wrong with it, lost all brake pressure an even after replacing everything, and i mean everything, in the brake system, bleeding it all the ways me an my dad could think of, it still didnt have pressure. none, an yet you work the pedal an fluid would come gushing from the bleeders. been gone for 3 years now, but im still curious.

sounds like you were either missing the check valve in the booster hose or the booster itself had a leak.
