  • Why did you buy your Festiva?

Why did you buy your Festiva? I bought my first one for a winter beater, wore it out and had to have another. Found this site and FMS, I was hooked! Now I have a couple not including that first beater.

Bought my first one cuz I needed a cheap car...was low on cash at the time. It was just traded in at a dealership that was advertising a trade in special. Thats all it took for me to be brainwashed....I killed the first one doing stupid stuff....but promptly bought another for 500 bucks over 6 years ago and the car has never let me down...I drive it 100 miles a day most of the year. Bought my deerkiller this fall for the wife because it was automatic....but I drive it too, well not right now...lol...but soon..... it will rise again.

      I bought my Festiva in 03' .
To replace a 4dr 1 ton Dually that had a BBC in it that was slammed with Bell Tech susp, that got about 4.5 mpg when I first bought it .

So my Festiva has paid for itself , more than 20 times .. Really

my buddy had 1 with 75k on it.. bought it for the wife who needed a car for 1000.. Bright Yellow.. Anyways, trying to be nice, she finally let me know that she didn't like it.. I though it was just right for her.. had tweetey steering wheel cover, tweety mud flaps, tweety floor mats and a big tweety sticker on the back.. She said that was the only part she liked.. The nail in the coffin was that even though I tought her to drive a stick some 20 yrs ago.. she didn't want a mtx.. so I gave her a 92 Corolla auto.. and took the lil thing for my self, got rid of everything Tweety and felt stupid with me being 6'2" driving a clown car.. Then one day I saw Lubner's Kia Pride... I was dumbfounded that a Festiva could look like that.. One day the while browsing the messages on the FML, the original owner of FF.Com (Rich Norman) decided he was done with it and was going to shut it down.. Wil (GroHarlem) and I both were trying to take it over instead of letting it die.. Well, he gave it to me and the rest is history..

I wanted to sell my V6 S-10 (16 mpg) and get a nice VW or something, but would need another car during the transition. Picked up the yellow Fesitva for $500, then discovered this board

I bought my first two at the same time in 1993. The pic is freshtiva and lil bertha the day they were purchased.

I was looking at a 300z with 50,000 miles on it but bought both these cars instead for about the same money. It was a tough decision but a smart choice.

I was forced into my first festiva, an 89 L, by my dad when I was 20 in 91. It had 22,700 miles on it. I drove it into the ground and it finally lost the trans at 119,000. I drove the last 10,000 miles w/o 2nd and 3rd gear. 1st .... 4th. ouch. If I knew then how long they could last I would have just swapped in a trans. The following 13 festivas have come over the years. I was brutal to my first 5. I was good to the rest.

I had just got my driving licence and was looking for something cheap. It just so happened my neighbours had a Festiva sitting in thier driveway, and I pestered them until they finally sold it to me for $200. 3 1/2 years later, I've been through 10 of them and I'm not done yet!

I was having girl problems & no cash in the bank, so I sold my 11sec dsm to get a $500 festiva cause of cam's car. I love sleeper cars so I wanted to drop a b6t into one. Was young & dumb spent all the extra cash from the trade on stupid stuff. Never did an engine swap on that one.

I bought mine for a b6t swap but am currently using it for a work car while I accumulate stuff for the swap. Of course I know me and know that there is a chance this one will be used for a work car for awhile and I will look for one with a better body.
Currently Festiva-less. Please don't hate me

Fuel economy and needed a winter/commuter car.

Driving the SVT race car daily was just getting to be too much.

The SVT requires premium and gets under 25MPG highway.....driving the festiva on regular gas, i save enough money each month in gas to make my car payment on the SVT.
