I was used to drive sports cars, and after my last one ( 1992 Eagle Talon TSi AWD) I decided that I had enough of digging a hole in my pocket to pay for repairs; so I decided to make a sacrifice and buy a Festiva, so if I ever want to go fast again, I'd have some perfomance options from my daily beater/econobox for cheap, so for now I spend next to nothing to make it run, and in next to no time, I'll have the money to have my own econobox/sportscar...
The left lane? Are you crazy!!! I never drive in the left lane...It's full of freaks driving the wrong way and charging right at you!!!

I actually bought my 88 L+ NEW in Sept 1988, and it is still going strong, at almost 195,000 miles.
Has the original clutch and engine, leaks oil like crazy but doesn't burn any. Probably need a new clutch in the next year.

was white with red hockey stick stripe, now blue with white top, mirrors and wheels (looks like a fake Mini Cooper)

has a "ford racing" decal on the side, which makes people laugh.
Also has an official "Property of GM" sticker in back window, which maybe confused people
If it has boobs or wheels, sooner or later you're going to have trouble with it.

Well, I was stationed in Italy for a bit (Air Force, 92/93), and was able to borrow a Fiat 600 from an Eagle driver while he was out on sortie, in exchange for fixing the little Fiat. That got me hooked on little cars. Wanted a Mini (Mk II), but couldn't afford it when I got home. Had to buy a F150 for work. Then, in late 94, I changed jobs, and bought a leftover Aspire, new. Drove that little guy (Stimpson) for 3 years and 120k miles. Sold it and bought a T-bird when the (now ex) wife got pregnant in 97. Loved my T-Birds, but always missed the Aspire. When I went to work for Ford in '99, I looked for something small for commuting between Baltimore and Philly, and found a silver '88 LX, loaded, for $125. Needed and engine, but what the heck... Had it running for three days before it was totalled. Rear ended at a stop sign in the rain. Found the old FF.com at that time. Lucked into Uncle Fester in the fall of '04. And I mean lucked... got him for free! Drove him for 2 1/2 years (to keep miles of my '04 Mustang), then foolishly sold him this past spring. Lucked into a '90 L Plus about a month ago (again, free), which I'm now driving daily, AND got to buy back Uncle Fester!!!!

When I changed jobs I lost the company truck so had to look for something economical. I remembered reading the article in Motor Trend years before and decided put Festivas at the top of the list. That was 7 years ago! Had the first one, a white GL Sport, for a couple of years and got my current red 92 GL Sport when the first one was written off after an accident.

It got sandwiched between a Jeep Cherokee in front stopped at a light and a Chevy Cavalier doing about 35 mph

Had several in between that I've either parted out or fixed up and resold.

I bought my first one to keep my a-hole neighbor from blocking access to my driveway, then being an anal rentive engineer, the lack of symmetry bothered me so I got a 2nd one to make bookends at my driveway entrance, low and behold, this one was a good one and fun to drive, and then I was hooked, I have owned a maximum of 8 at a time, now at 7. They all have names with the lowest mileage being a 1990 with 31k miles affectionately referred to as Sunroof Festiva for the obvious sunroof, to the highest mileage one being Silverbell at 193k miles. I bet you can gues how Mousepoop got her name.

Mine was the fact that my 99 mustang gt was costing me alot of gas and traffic tickets. I heard of how good and reliable the festiva is, and since my father got a aspire for free and fixed it up, I drove it to work and to other places with no problems at all. I really liked the aspire but when I found my festiva for $50, I knew that it was the car for me. The gas on it is what got me to search for it. As I was able to get 120 miles on just 2 gallons of gas one time. I like my festiva so much that I rarely drive my Mustang around anymore.

I bought mine because my dad had one for a long time and it was a great car. Fuel mileage is awsome and they run forever if taken car of. Oh and because I think I would be able to fit 4 of them in my 2 car garage if I cleaned it up a bit.
90 festiva BP/G25MR swap, spec v seats, aspire brakes, FMS springs, round headlight conversion with HID's, custom exhaust, fiberglass hood, and a whole lotta bodywork

I'm reviving this thread because I found it interesting why some of us got into Festiva's and to hear why some of the newer member's decided on getting one.

Not sure what this says about me, but I bought my new one pretty much so I would not have to show up at Madness not driving a Festiva.

i bought mine because ive always wanted one, 1 because its just a fun little car, 2. because alot of people think there ugly, 3, because for under a grand you can have a 13 second car, 4 because i have only 327 into it which includes buying another engine and tags and regestration, 5. because it took 23 dollars to fill up on premium
