  • I bought mine to my mom, because it is a kind of family car, was my aunt and mom bought it, I started to manage and repair it little by little (it was in poor condition, because in that moment my mom does not employment and had not had as to keep the car) at that time she decided to sell it and I take advantage and has an opportunity to buy it .... but I still did not have the full money, I will repay in four installments and so I bought my first car = Festiva.

in advance and I liked my car and searching the Internet for car parts found this forum ... is amazing the things you have done to their festys, which made my eyes like a child enters a toy store
if I write badly....thanks google translator

    • Well America it's an aspire but in australia they're known as Festiva's as well.

but i bought mine because it was cheap, affordable and sporty for something i liked. I didnt know i'd get bagged out for owning a "girl's car" but you guys have seen it. It's getting better all the time. I love my Festiva. (97 Aspire) and i wouldnt trade it in for anything........ever.

      • I bought mine as a backup. My wife's truck went off the road and we needed to get another car *NOW*. So I bought this 80 Chrysler LeBaron station wagon with a good motor and tranny in it and made all the arrangements.

But I kept seeing this little red car by the fence. Kind of.. abandoned. Asked him about it, and he said that he was selling it as well. Had built it up for his wife, but she didn't want to drive it. Seeing the price was right ($250), I arranged to buy it as well, thinking that I'd get it into shape and road worthy and then have a backup in case my van died while my wife drove the LeBaron.

Well, didn't happen that way. Brakes failed on the van, and she couldn't drive the LeBaron (heater wouldn't work for her and it was -40). So we traded in the van and her old truck towards a new one for her while I drove the LeBaron. And then the LeBaron started smelling like a septic tank while I was driving it, not to mention the ridiculous amount of gas it began using (almost a full tank of gas in a day, and think about how big the tank in a station wagon is.)

So, it came off the road, and the Festiva came on, ready or not. And it's certainly lived up to the challenge..

        '93 Festiva GL
225996.9 kilometers = 140428.0 miles on the odometer
        ...and definitely more soon..

          • First one was to replace my GMC 2500 Vandura when I was 21. My then GF, now wife of almost 8 years, lived 70 miles away. My uncle had owned 3 of them (including a 1988 that had 199,000 miles in 1993 when it got totalled). I bought the first festy at a dealership for $700.

2nd Festy: My brother called and told me that he had found one in a field. I paid $190 for it. Ran for 3-4 years.

3rd Festy: found online in NM, paid $300, engine was dead, B6T swap, got sloppy, and had a mechanic that thought nitrous was a good idea. It died shortly after.

First Aspire (and current): Wife was pregnant, other car died, found a "buy here, pay here" place. Paid WAY too much for it, but 5 years later, it still runs like a champ!

Second Aspire: Saw it growing weeds around it, outside of a trailer in nowheresville, UT. Knocked on the door. Paid $200. Drove it for a year. had a lot of fun. Broke a half shaft, and it ended up being just too many things wrong to fix it.

Between the family: Uncle 4 Festivas. Me 3 Festivas, 2 Aspires, Brother 3 Festivas, 1 Aspire. Total: 13 B3's.

                  • I got mine when I was in San Francisco, bought it brand new after work on a Friday, tripped 1,000 miles by Sunday. Didn't know how to drive a manual transmission either, so that first few days was really fun in SanFran's hills (aka Walls). Either I'll learn to shift or it'll be in the Bay! Some of those hills I couldn't get into 2nd, there wasn't enough torque to maintain speed. When I wore the motor out in that one, I traded it in and missed it ever since. Had to get another, and no matter what my wife says, I'm keeping it!

                    • Was carless and looking for a beater, so I started pounding craigslist and a Festiva came up 5 blocks from where I live. I called and went to see it and had no idea of what a Festiva was but it was $400, ran beautifully, had 114,000 miles, 5 speed, working air a killer radio and service records for the life of the car. The owners mother was giving her her Volvo. Closed the deal in 10 minutes. Owner called me 3 days later wanting to buy the car back. Best thing for me was it was tiny and easy to park.

                        • I bought mine because some punk (takeone51) lined up at Moroso Speedway in a festiva and beat my 93 twin turbo rx7. I sat and talked with him afterward and about 6 weeks later I bought my festiva!
Sold the RX7 a year or two later.
                          No longer a festiva owner

                              • Got mine because I was sick and tired of only getting 32 MPG out of little cars, and I wanted one that was SERIOUS about gas mileage!

The manufacturers have quit making anything like this. A steady 44 MPG over the last 13,000 miles and rolling on ....
