gas is 5 bucks a gallon in the uk and 7 in norway, so figures they
would have way more fuel efficient cars. but no one in the usa
much seemed to care about mpg when gas was cheap. look how
many suv hogs were sold the last few yrs. its to bad though i agree.
i wish they had been offering more fuel efficient cars as in europe.

SI found that the number of vehicle models sold in the United States that achieve combined gas mileage of at least 40 miles per gallon actually has dropped from five in 2005 to just two in 2007 — the Honda Civic hybrid and the Toyota Prius hybrid.
1. Honda Insight — 60/66
2. Toyota Prius — 60/51*
3. Honda Civic Hybrid — 49/51*

5. Volkswagen Jetta TDI — 36/41

9. Honda Civic — 30/40*
10. Pontiac Vibe — 30/36

Half the people driving 6500 LB SUV drive them because they feel safe if they get in an accident with a 6500 LB SUV. 90 % of the SUVs I see driving around have one person on board and aren't hauling anything. Empty seats and empty truck beds?sigpic

i believe more people bought them because it was the in thing,
just as having a mini van in the driveway was a few yrs back.
most pple in the city dont need a a big suv for hauling kids and
groceries and there are still plenty of safe cars out there. a
neighbor of mine sold a minvan to buy one of those large monsters.
well got to follow the crowd. american public are sheep, well
most are anyway.
i dont see the toyota yaris or honda on that list. they both gets
pretty good milage. maybe to new for the list."We can judge the heart of a man by his treatment of animals." -Mohandas Gandhi

I just got my 91 range rover. It is soooo beast. I put in in low range and it feels like it could pull the queen mary up out of the ocean. But I'll never have 15 of those like I've had festivas. I still say. Festiva best car.... ever. Yaris looks cool to me. I'd like to see what kind of high mileage stories owners have after a decade. I doubt they can compete with a festiva. Hey, I been hearing adds on the radio for "smart cars" which are now available in the U.S. and are supposed to get 60 MPG's. I was told that it looks like a 2 seater Fiesta (not festiva) except the hood is even shorter. I hear these adds in the Baltimore area.
I agree with Todd00, the Yaris center speedo looks retarded, otherwise a pretty good festiva replacement (if needed - keep that Festiva alive!).
