  • Aspire marketed as 'Second Gen Festiva'

    According to wikipedia...

"While it was sold in certain markets as a second generation Festiva, Ford renamed it the "Aspire" in North American markets."

Can anyone elaborate on this name change? Does anyone have any sales pamphlets or anything that officially calls the Ford Aspire a 'festiva'?

aspires in other countries were called festivas (each area of ford runs itself almost sepereatly and names their cars appropriately for the area) since the festiva name elsewhere in the world sold better than it did here in america. people in america wanted a new small car, ford gave them something updated with a new name
1992 Festiva... BP-T, Escort G5MR, no crossmember, aspire brakes, Megasquirt, Toyota COP's, coilovers and 6 puck SPEC clutch!

T3/T4 Turbo Power! G5MR and BP since '04!

So a Ford Aspire in Canada would technically be called a Ford Festiva?

I can confirm that, the transition from 93, through to 95 still carry the festiva brand in Australia. Ford then replaced the Aspire with the Ka in 2000....
