ok so i'm taking a shortcut in a residential area that i rarely use and as soon as i turn outta a 4-way intersection what catches my eye quicker than any naked celeb you fantasize about but the unmistakable shape of a blue festy parked at the curb with a for sale sign in the window. i'm braking, making a u-turn and reaching for the cell ohone and checkbook all at the same time as soon as i'm close enough to see 92 festiva, 25k mi scribbled on the sign. i park and look over and under a GL with AC/alloys/rear wiper/immac cargo cover and like new interior and yup-like 25,000 something on the odo. i call the # on the cell thinking the guys right in one of these houses and i'm lookin to see how much cash i got on me to get this deal NOW. no luck, i get an answering machine. i'm thinking of camping out till somebody shows remembering how the rug was pulled out from under me by just an hours hesitation on a couple of past finds but i took a chance figuring it wasn't in any of the local papers or on the net, crossed my fingers, went home and waited. my heart jumps when the cell rings an hour later. the guy just got home from work, seems pretty friendly and willing to show it to me as soon as i get back over there. now the critical question of price is asked and the guy gives me what he found on KBB is like $1300 but is willing to talk. luckily, like alot of sellers of these cars he has no idea about them and i throw out a nice round $1000 offer. SOLD! not a steal but man this car is clean! the story is that the guys aunt(little old lady) bought it new and she used it for bingo and the hairdresser and eventually gave it to him 2 yrs ago when she went to the old folks home. it had 13000 on it when he got it! only drawback for me is being an auto but man i can't believe how tight and quiet this car is. don't give up-they're out there. this was like 5 miles from my house all these yrs.
