Ok spent half the day yesterday fighting the installation of the pass side control arm.. finally got it on and holy crap the the toe was way wrong.. it started getting late and right before I we3nt to sleep I remembered that I got those new control arms as a comp for doing pc work. I didn't order them and stash them away. Stupid DJ, those are Aspire control arms... Compared them this morning and duh, I was right.. about an inch longer and wider at the frame connection. Glad I only did 1.. Now everyone can feel better about themselves. At least you didn't pull a DJ.. :evil: :roll:

Just don't get halfway through your aspire brake swap (ie. the old trailing arm taken off but the new one not installed) then go to the parts store to get a couple things and end up spending the night at a friends house and playing video games all night. Then you come back the next morning and pat yourself on the back for being considerate enough to remember to go ahead and place the new trailing arm under the car right where it needs to go... then you install it, hook up all the brake lines and the e-brake... then you go to put the wheels back on and you're thinking, man, I was thinking the aspire brakes were a little bigger than that... then you realize that those aren't aspire brakes, the aspire brakes are still sitting on the floor of the garage and you've just reinstalled the festiva axle :!:... thats what I did once!

I left the air intake unhooked from the airbox. That made the fuel pump cut out. I bought a used one from a local festiva buddy for $40. Figured it out a month or so later after the "bad" pump was gone. DOH!

^^^ yeah it took me forever with my first B6 swap to figure out that the reason the car wouldn't run for more than two seconds was because the MAF plug had gotten pushed up under the MAF when I reinstalled it and so I was looking around up under there and I was like, "man, I don't see anything unplugged or anything"... DUH! The plug was trapped! I didn't buy a new fuel pump but I was getting ready to.

I was real tired doing the front of my car and couldnt get the tie rod in, Come to find out they only go 1 way. I knew this but after being up like 24hrs I was a bit outs it.

one time at the garage down the street i put my car on a lift to change the oil took the oil drain plug out and set it on the work bench later went to intall it but it would not thread right after about a quarter turn i looked on the work bench and saw i had grabbed the wrong drain plug..talking about cursing one self lucky it did not strip the oil pan threads.

changed a waterpump in a snowstorm, outside, in a foot of snow, changing a clutch, somehow got the disk in backwards, swapped turbos on my k car, soemhow putthe old one back on. list goes on for miles...

This thread is fun, it should be made into a sticky, maybe in the off-topic forum... helps everyone vent and lets us all know that each one of us is still human and still makes dumb mistakes sometimes :lol:
