  • new guy here , just got a 93!

hi guys , new guy here from maine. this morning i bought a 93 festiva with 87k miles for 175 bucks.

it runs good and body is solid but the clutch may be going.

im looking to make this car my dd and try to get the most mpg's possible.

talked to a guy today who has 6 88-93 festivas and he said he gets about 46 mpg in his dd , is this belivable or not ? any other info you guys could give me on this particular year would be awsome , thanks

      Welcome to the board !!

      You stole that car !!
      WOW..

That is very close on the mileage , I get 48 on the highway without trying , and have got 51 mpg.

      Where are you from ??
Replace the clutch assy , you will never regret buying it or investing some $$ in it .

        pics will be coming soon.

today i totaly gutted the interior to check for rust , and guess what ??? no rust!!! im going to keep the back seat out and probaly put a nice carpet in. i removed what was left of the console under the radio and cleaned the trunk area up , its gonna be a project for a few months till i get it road ready. its a pretty fun little car and with 87 thousand miles it seems to me it should go another 100k atleast. i cant wait till i get it goin good , its gunna be fun to drive.

last year i had a 87 tercel , pretty much the same kinda car , one side mirror , manual steering and very small but i got about 40 mpgs in the tercel.

im from rockland , maine. im 20 years old and i love cars haha. i plan on doing the clutch and the rest of the work myself , its kinda hard trying to teach myself how to work on cars lol but its fun nontheless. i hope this will be a good car for me , i wasnt even looking for a new car since i have a 05 focus and a 65 pontiac but i saw it sitting in someones driveway with 200$ written on the window , got it for 175 and he even drove it to my house for me.

The Festy is very easy to work on. You should have no problems , if you do there is a wealth of info to be found throughout the site. Not to mention plenty of helpful people.
You should add your location into your profile....makes it easier when talking to others...may be close by and able to help.

Red button is the fuel pump inertia reset.

Box under the seat is the module for the automatic seat belts .
