That seems weird, is the wiper and light switches on opposite sides of the steering column ?

My guess is because in a right hand drive car your shifting with your left hand so they put the turn signal on the right side of the column so you can signal with your free hand?

^^ That would be an interesting mod to a US Festiva.

British Prides and 121s also have the reversed turn signal/wiper switches.

Yes, it is because they are right hand drive. I see the reversed switches on Ebay UK all the time.
