  • Festiva on the front page of the Calgary Herald...... but

    There's an article on the front page today's Calgary Herald about abuse of wilderness camping area. The photo they used "featured" a Festiva.

    Here's a link to the photo... http://tinyurl.com/yru2ez :shock: Here's the link to the full article... http://tinyurl.com/22zlc5

    Not the kind of publicity we need for our favorite car but at least they didn't name it.

          ================================================== =======
          "It brings out the redneck in you," Jeff Sawatzky said, a wrecked pickup truck and old Ford car sitting nearby.

          Forestry officials suspected that after nightfall the vehicles would be dragged into a muddy ring and crushed, as they are in monster truck rallies.

          "There are no rules. That's the reason you come here," Sawatzky said. "You can party."

              Eh... That's just the publicity that the off-road community needs...

              That car was probably stolen, crashed and then ditched... Vandals will be vandals and that's what's left.

                Yup, I guess now the environmental ministry has roped in the madness (to some degree) in the Waiporous area, it's just moved south to Indian Graves. Move it out of the Indian Graves area, and it'll find a new home somewhere else for a couple of years.

                It's very sad to say, but these idiots will tear up any area they have access to, so let's reign 'em into an area that's already ruined! There are several environmental "disaster" sites in or around Calgary. Old refinery properties, ex-fertilizer factories...they'll make an ideal playground. What about that area around CFB Suffield, with all the live ordinance just lying in the ground on the test range? That'd be a fantastic challenge for these guys! Sand dunes, land mines...it's all there.

                  Done the proper way, there is no "tearing up"... You get a couple idiots that do act stupid and you've got a bad name for everyone...

                        GET THE WHEELS!!!
                        and yeah another thing to be used in the future against the 4-wheel enthusiast.
                        There is no replacement for displacement, except for the turbo in my basement.

                          I've got nothing against people off roading, as long is it's done responsibly. A bunch of drunks on public land going crazy sucks. A bunch of people using trails, or private land is something else.
