  • Messed up Shifter

Hey, I have a 92gl, automatic, and the shifter button is screwed up, it can be shifted into any gear freely. I am wondering if this could cause tranny problems down the road, I don't see how it could, but just asking. This maybe a blessing in disguise because I want to make a custom shifter anyway, any Tips, Thanks, Breedlove

Probably just a bad shifter knob. There is one on Ebay right now.

Just because the shift lock is broke , that will not effect your trans .

But be careful and do not bump it into reverse while at speed , or down shift at speed .
Always come to a complete stop before changing directions .

Yeah, I am always going to worry about bumping it into another gear. The reason I asked about the tranny is because sometimes I have to shift to d2 then back to d to get it to engage, but it doesn't seem to bother it any. Thanks, Breedlove

Special times like up hill or down or the freeway were people are more dumb and try to cut you off just to make you change gears. And makes you soooooo :cussing: :banghead:

Sounds minor, maybe a new spring or a little well placed lube might fix it . If not you might try something like this.
