  • 43k mile B6 in the j/y

I spotted an older style B6 in the jy... 70xxxkms... 43k miles!

However i had to use a shovel to scrape away the sludge that it was burried in before i could tell it was atchuley a B6

I guess the mileage is low, but i dont think its the best candidate. There were a few in the yard that had 200k+ that looked better. Mind you though i didn't look under the valve cover.

Better take a look under the valve cover maybe the one that had 43k on it had the tach swapped due to the trip/odo or other gauges were INOP

It all depends on how it was taken care of.

My first Festiva had 210,000 on it by the time I sold it, yet the block was spotless and the valves were golden.

I came across a Festiva at the junkyard with 80k on it. The engine was caked with oil, there was a bottle to catch blowby, and the valves were covered in gritty black oil.

If I were looking for a B6 I'd go with the 200k one.

Pull the valve cover. Oil and sludge on the outside only mean that theres an oil leak that wasn't looked after. It could be a goldmine inside.
