Autocross tires, recommendations?

I did my first AutoCross this weekend (I will post a separate thread with pics and results later tonight)

BUT, long story short, my 185/60 Sumitomo H100's S U C K..

they are old, and hard I guess, but I smoked them out of every turn, off the line, and every where else, absolutely NO traction anywhere, turns, etc..

SO, I am going to purchase a set of Sumi H200's summer performance tires for daily driving this week.

My question is this:

What do you guys recommend for an auto cross wheel and tire? RACE tire.

I want sticky, wide and a bit less circumference. There was an old Rabbit there with some Hoosiers and he was smoking faster cars... while I was losing to slower cars with my sucky rubber, that rabbit had TINY tires, but they were 9 inches wide, with offset wheels that allowed them to turn without rubbing... great set up, and that is about what I want to do.

Recommendations that won't break my bank?

Anyone have any for sale? (will also post a WTB in appropriate forum later)

Nah, None of those Falkens come remotely small enough for what I need....

I was thinking about these:

But they aren't any smaller or wider...

Still searching for the right competition tire.

They in no way have to be street legal, these will be competition only..

I would consider the Falkens you mentioned for DD and occaisonal AutoX, but they don't have the size I need. all are taller than what I have now, and that won't do...

I found the Hoosiers in 225/45/13 that would work, but $176 a tire.... need some 13" wheels with a bit more offset, might not rub the wheel wells too badly...

Wish I could find the Falkens in an appropriate size...

I have some 17" SVT rims sitting in my closet that I will sell you, though that probably doesn't fix you problem.

Those will be too big I believe, and the tires that would fit those would have to have a 1.5" sidewall... lol....

We need to have a "Stiva get together at an autocross event!!!

Imagine the faces if 10-15 Festys showed up and ran!!

I think I am going with 13x7 or 8 Diamonds (spun) can't quite decide on a backspace/offset... somewhere near 0 offset like Kyle, or maybe a bit more towards the outside....

Tires are going to have to be used for now, and I am almost certainly looking at 20x8 Hoosiers, somewhere between R25 and R45 for now... tons of good deals on Ebay... Will be less than $450 total, wheels and tires.... killa...

Can't wait to try them...
