  • Big Bird Tiva comes home

Well I brought home my new and last festiva tonight. The car is a 1989 Yellow festiva with about 50k on the engine and tranny, about 111k on the shell which came from georgia and is rust free all over.

The engine and tranny and suspension came off a mauled 23k 1990 ford festiva, and the shell had a blown engine, I know this for a fact because I saw my uncle put this car together about 2 years ago. His wife made him sell it and I happen to be lucky.

When I got it home I realized just how lucky I am. For one.... it has factory AC!!!! I didnt even realize till I got home!!!! HAHA. Besides that it came with a tone of extra parts, and all new tires, brakes, spindles, rear struts..etc.... I paid 1500 but the car is mint, and my wife allowed it.

Also this weekend I went to Ians house (Project B6T) and picked up his roll cage and racing seats. Needless to say I have lots and lots of stuff to keep me busy for awhile I will post pics by this weekend :-) The car was repainted about a year ago to Big Bird Yellow and it isnt a great paint job but its okay.

Yes it is DOUG. That was the one I drove to Ohiostiva Spring 2006. I don't believe it will make it to Festiva Festival, because I want to bring the G'Tiva, and I have no one else to drive the yellow one and pay for gas.... Oh well. It is going to be my baby anyways :-) I am already planning a road trip for it next summer down the east coast for 2 weeks :-)

Yes Geneva your right, thanks for catching that :-)

I would definetely like to meet some festiva people on my trip, especially those who have never been able to make it to one of the big meets.

I originally wanted to plan a 2 week around the US trip, and meet as many festiva people as possible, but that is a couple years off.

Sweet deal! Anything special going to happen to this car or will it be left a stocker?

Every car I have owned has had a turbo in it, until I bought this latest festiva.. I plan to fix that though.

Ian you weren't suppose to tell!!!!

Actually I really don't know what I am going to do. I think I want to just focus on making this car as mint as possible since it has only 50k on the powertrain and the body is so nice. I probably will repaint it, but other than that I think I am going to make it as original as possible since they are getting so hard to find. This is the last one I am ever going to own according to my wife. I did want to have 3 total but that is okay.

However the orange one is now looking at a 13BTT or 20B engine and transmission mid engine swap :-) of course this is just in the planning stages, and about 2 years off. I still need to find a home for my wife with a garage before I can start accumulating the parts. Not to mention all that time it is going to take finding a nice wrecked Rx7 that I can steal all the needed parts off from, and measuring and research involved.

But yeah the Big Bird is going to be mostly stock.

There is no replacement for displacement, except for the turbo in my basement.
