Can someone tell me just what is a B3 engine and what kind of price are they going for and what years will they fit?

The B3 engine is a Mazda made 1.3 liter engine that came standard in all North American Ford Festivas and Aspires. Some asian markets and elsewhere in the world were also offered a B1 version being a 1.1 liter. You will see that many here do a B6 engine swap. That is a 1.6 liter engine found in earlier Mazda 323s and some early Mazda Proteges.

Any year B3 engine can be swapped into your Festiva. External bits can be swap from carbed versions to EFI and vise versa. Early 1988 and non auto trans 89 blocks (carbed models) have manual adjustable valve lash adjustment. The others are HLA (Hydraulic Lash Adjusters).

Prices vary widely. Pick and Pulls have engines from wrecked cars $100 on up and usually in the $300-$500 range. A new factory crate long block can be had through Festiva Motorsports for $1699 shipped I believe but check with Roger at FMS.

    Hope this helps!
