Does anyone know if the 89 L has the wireing to put a tach dash in? I mean is it plug and play like other years?

Believe my tach cluster came out of an 89, but maybe not an L!
But even if I'm wrong, shouldn't be too hard to make a connector and hook it up! got a wiring harness from Kabbage I could hunt down the connector on if I had too!'93 Blue 5spd 230K(down for clutch and overall maintanence)

all years are wired for a tach cluster. both of my '88s have tachs out of other years and work perfectly.Trees aren't kind to me...
currently: 2 88Ls (Scrappy and Jersey), 88LX, 90L(Pepe), 91L, 91GL (Skippy) 93 GL Sport (the Mighty Favakk), 94 (Bruce) & 95 Aspire SEs, 97 Aspire (The Joker),
94 Justy 4WD, 87 Fiero GT, plus 2 parts cars. That's my fleet.

Not all years are wired for tachs. Mine def wasnt.88' Ford Festiva

well that's odd as i own 2 '88 L models and both are wired to accept a tach clusterTrees aren't kind to me...

My 89l Did NOT have the tach wire (yellow /grn) but it is easy to run and you just modify a female pin socket from radio shack to fit in the connecter.Blue 1989 Festiva L 1.3 carb 160K+, Aspire 5spd, Aspire swap, Tach, Added A/C, Intermittent wipers.
Aqua 1991 Festiva L 1.3 FI 200K+, 5spd, Aspire swap, tach, Intermittent wipers.
Green 1995 Aspire 1.3 FI 95K (RIP Saved my 18yo sons life)Comment

Not the 89L, mine didn't. I put the tach cluster in and it didn't work and I never ran the wire to make it work. I only needed the cluster for the headlight buzzer.Originally posted by FestYboy

That's funny because that's the reason I got mine!
Nice to have the tach too, but got it because I kept leaving the lights on in my car during the dark drive into work in the winter!'93 Blue 5spd 230K(down for clutch and overall maintanence)
