    Alrighty, what the heck is this thing? It was located under the dash on the passenger side. Nothing was attached to it. It just sort of hung there.

      :? Ill name it .....a "hanging D bracket". I dont know what it is, Ive never seen one before. But I want one.

        It looks like the outline of the A/C core, but there's usually just a plastic pipe in Festivas without A/C.

          yeah, the large, plastic intake duct went through the middle of that thing, but didn't actually contact it at all.

            Maybe it's a kick plate so that your feet don't kick the duct and break it.

              ive got one of those in my car too. i hung my interior heater from it.

                mine sits on the back porch with the rest of the dash support bars. I never knew what it was really for.
                Nothing says "triumph of enthusiasm over physics" like a Front Wheel Drive race car.

                  I went through the shop manual. It is the evaporator housing support. Mystery solved. I just wonder what the hell it was doing in my car. Kind of pointless to install something that supports something else that's not there.
