Attached to the idle screw bracket, passenger side of carb, has two wires, black and red with a plunger? what is it, what does it do, how do u adjust it , is it described in the Haynes,,,,, :?:

ok, it's black and PINK, and it's called a dash pot. it's designed to keep your engine from idling so low that it coughs out (think Idle Air Control). it's a stepper motor and the adjustment is the philips head screw at the nipple. you shouldn't have to adjust it unless it is causing your base idle to be too high.Trees aren't kind to me...

thanks, i looked at the philips head screw and it is all the way backed out, not one thread showing, do u think that is correct setting?
and i do have a high idle that wont go below 900, but i have a noticeable cough-cough sounding miss if i go lower than 1000 rpms.previous cars to fix up;
