Hey kzbill, if you continue to have this problem, as soon as it starts to lose power, press the clutch in turn the key one click back and then forward again. Let the clutch out and keep on truckin! It will reset your computer and you just keep driving. I am having a similar problem to you and this is what I do to keep the car going. If anyone has any suggestions...please do tell.

The video just posted on the repair forum "B6 Stutters" Is the problem I see on here a lot and is what mine does. The problem goes by many names it seems, everyone has a different description of it, but I think if we find the "Root cause" it will solve many peoples problems. it is an elusive but frustrating condition. described I think by: loss of power, Quits at stops, won't go over 40, when I let off it dies, and many many other descriptions. it is probably something simple but finding it is the challenge. Mine got much better when I swapped out the Dist. but then out of the blue it happened again yesterday. Next is the ignition control module. (on order)

I installed the new optical sensor now all my ignition problems seem solved even the low speed miss or "pop"
I also had an issue with the Idle air control motor, that was the bogging and stalling.

the final solution>>>>>>>> replaced the copper wires with new resistance wires. the RFI (radio frequency interferance) drove the electronics nuts. that fixed the problem
