  • Ahh shoot. Dimmer switch/fuse problem

So, because my dimmer switch has issues, I was thinking maybe I could set it up to just be full brightness when I put the lights on. While tinkering around after unplugging the dimmer switch, I touched the red and black wires together which made a spark, and now none of my cluster gauge lights come on, with or without the dimmer switch. I checked the fuses in the fusebox, and none are blown.

    Any ideas?

Which fuse would the cluster/console lights be on, anyways? Maybe there's no fuse where there should be one...if that's the case, did I fry something?

If your dimmer switch is now ruined...that is why cluster lights won't operate. You can take that switch apart, I did mine and it started working again for some unknown reason after putting it back together...just luck maybe.

Well, I had unplugged the switch and then touched two of the wires that went to the switch, together. One of the red ones, and the black one, and then it sparked, and now my cluster lights don't work. It seems like it would be a blown fuse, but it doesn't appear that any in the fusebox are blown! I don't think we have another fusebox in the engine compartment, do we? Did I blow something in the cluster?

I replaced the old dimmer switch with a new one, as well as replaced the gauge cluster. Everything but the odometer/spedometer/gas/temperature gauges light up now! That's how it was with the old dimmer switch and the old cluster... I swear I blew some kind of circuit, or a hidden fuse
