  • where do I put transmission fluid in at? HELP!

I have a 95 Ford Aspire, and I don't know if I'm putting the fluid in the right place... it's where the speedometer cable connects to the engine right?

Also, how do I repair a CV joint? Do I need to take it to a shop or is it something you can do on your own?

Please help! My car is parked in my backyard and I'm stranded till I figure this out!

    Thanks!

To fill the tranny you need to remove the speedo gear drive. There is a little screw that retains it. Remove the screw and pull out the drive. The speedo drive is also the dipstick, it has fill level marks on it. It takes 2.6 quarts.

As far as the CV joint is concerned I would say just buy a new one, the aren't to expensive. Check autozone or advanced, should be under $75 plus you need to turn in your core.

You could take the CV shaft to a driveline shop and get it repaired but the cost will probably be more.

Be sure to do the tranny fluid fill after the cv shaft replacement. You will loose all the fluid when you replace the shaft.
