  • Distributor interchange?

I replaced the distributor in my 91 L 5 spd.
everyone talks about a "Hall effect" dist. with four arms that pass by a coil in the distributor and create a voltage signal to the ECU.
Mine appears to be an optical sensor with a slotted plate located under a metal cover. I looked on the rock auto site and there were 5 "hall effect" distributors and one like mine. the casting numbers are the same but all but mine had a "B" after the number. Does anyone know if these distributors are interchangable?

The distributor sits between the engine shaft, the computer, and the spark plugs. It has to be compatible with all three so I would assume they are interchangeable even if they differ internally.

I installed the new optical sensor now all my ignition problems seem solved even the low speed miss or "pop"
I also had an issue with the Idle air control motor, that was the bogging and stalling.
