  • Just got the car, high revs, overheating?

I just got my Festy a week ago, it doesn't have any repair records and the PO got it from a friend so doesn't know anything.

    It's a 1993 manual, fuel injected little car with 173000km (10800miles)

When driving for an hour or so around town the car starts to overheat, gradually but progressively. Also, when I get out of gear the engine continues revving for some time and veery slowly drops the revs. Could this be to the merely alive clutch? Other than that she starts perfectly, has oil (burns it too) and drives fine!

Any ideas on what to check, change? Basically I wanna do the general maintenance on it first, then go into gasket and clutch changing.

how dose the gas pedal feel? look at it as you let off it, maybe it is sticking, causing the revving when you let it outta gear.

the overheating could be caused by a clogged radiator not allowing air to pass. thats what was causing mine to overheat. i removed the radiator, pressure washed it and put it back in and it made a signifigant difference!

That would be my second step after checking coolant . . . do you notice does your fan come on ??? if not you can follow this guide (see below)
As for the engine rev pop the hood and manually run the throttle with the linkage*IMPORTANT* make sure car is in Neutral and parking brake is applied before exiting! if the engine does not rev up smoothly and return to idle smoothly then you should try replacing the TPS, If car will no Idle correctly then replace the VAF.
