  • "METER" fuse blows intermittently - any ideas wher

    1990 Festiva "L"
According to my Haynes manual, the "meter" fuse covers four circuits:
    • Dash gages and engine lights
    • Backup lights circuit
    • Radiator fan relay circuit
    • Signal lights circuit

Because the fuse blows intermittently, I can't easily find the short circuit. Anyone else have this problem? Is there a common cause? One post I saw said to make sure the Hazard switch was not in the halfway position. It's not. I don't like to drive without the signal lights! Thanks much - Paul

    Fuse Blowing Out

I'm hazarding a guess here....Maybe you have a short somewhere or a bad relay.Since that fuse controls those four functions,it could be any one of them.
    Good luck!

Thanks - I did find the problem in the backup lights circuit. I found the harness was dislodged from it's restraint near the back bottom of the engine. I guess some snow or ice hit it. I moved it around and reconnected it and the short went away. Good enough for now!
