Another smoking question..

Hi all,

Quick question... am I correct in assuming that if I occasionally get blueish smoke on start up that the valve seals need replacing?

Go with the cheap solution firts, try to replace the seals. but make a leak test and a compression test, both dry and wet

my 78 pickup does smoke after it sits for weeks but clears up after running for a while.

I would go with an even cheaper solution first....Sea Foam it. Maybe one of the valves has some carbon build up in the seat, and it isn't closing all the way. Either way it will help clean things up a bit on the inside if you do have to do the seals.
