Hello, I could use help locating new lash adjusters for my 93 Festiva, or repairing the original. The engine makes a crazy knocking noise at idle and while driving all through the RPM range. Thanks. bugerdup

The B3 uses hydraulic lash adjuster. They occasionally "tick" if the car has sat for a while (or cold weather) and the oil has leaked out of the HLA. This noise is usually only for a few seconds (Never over a minute) upon starting the engine. I would not expect a "Knock" to be related to the HLA's. Your knock could be something else (bearings or wrist pin). If it is indeed the HLA's (so bad that they don't quiet down), I have never experienced that. I wouldn't even know where to start looking for replacements - except the internet or a Mazda site. The HLA's are locate in the rocker arms at the tip where they press on the valve stem. I would suggest replacing the rocker arm assembly with one from a junkyard - Good Luck

Originally posted by monkeyracingOn a related note, does anyone know of any problems switching from solid to hydraulic lash adjusters in a B6. I've got the "solid lifter" setup now, but would like to go hydraulic for the sake of reduced noise.
